Going Home!
Today is the last day of my road trip so this will be my last post from the road. I might put up some more pictures when I get back home but we'll see.
I had dinner with some friends at the house of prime rib last night here in SF. the restaurant was packed and the food was amazing. it is definitely worth it for carnivores. they carve the meat right in front of you in this giant rolling meat cart. it's pretty impressive. pictures are below.
there were a couple of things on this trip that I didn't have time to write about. in eugene, oregon, I visited an old college friend and we went to the yearly Scandinavian festival that's held there. good food.
and the most exciting or interesting thing is probably the night I spent in Coos Bay at the Timber Inn lodge. I swear I didn't think I was going to make it out of there alive. I checked in late because of the extra round of golf I played at Bandon dunes. the check in office was closed so they directed all customers to the adjoining restaurant/karaoke bar. I thought I had walked into a bad movie when I went into the restaurant. I was literally scared for my life because the place was filled with very intimidating looking rednecks. I felt like I was in that scene in 48 hours where eddie murphy walks into the cowboy bar and everybody stops and stares at him. the music stops playing, people stopped dancing, and they just glared at him because he was black. Well, it wasn't that dramatic, but I definitely didn't belong in a place like that. I got my room key and got the hell out of there. now the room was another story. let's just say I was afraid to take off my shoes. good times.
i'm off to a town called 'gilroy' next. it's the garlic capital of the world, located about an hour and a half below san jose. it's also well known for having the biggest outlet shopping center in california. tourists literally drive from far away just to shop there. it's huge. I need to buy some running shoes.
(my mom just called and put me on speaker. my dog heard my voice and started barking. I really, really miss my dog)
oh, I forgot to write down my playlist from oregon to SF:
U2 -actung baby, joshua tree, rattle and hum, bon jovi - have a nice day, rush - feedback, jimmy eat world - futures, disintegration, ipod mix of country/pop(i tried to match the music to the scenery during my drive. i'm surprisingly becomming more tolerable of country music, tom petty - highway companion, foo fighters - the colour and the shape, iron maiden - live after death
i don't know what my total miles travled is anymore but it crossed over 2000 miles awhile ago.
off i go.
